I was frustrated, feeling as if I was at the end of my rope. For more than three weeks I'd been trying to edit a recording on my computer and the program that had been so wonderful before simply wouldn't load, in spite of everything I did. Forget that programs aren't supposed to crash on the Mac OS X systems. Forget that we had replaced the old version and installed the newest. Forget that it had been working perfectly the night before it began to crash. Forget that this was the final CD in the Sleep Your Way To Success series that I'll be telling you more about next month. Forget that we were excited to hear it in final form. Forget it all - that's not the point of this story.

After four sessions with two other Mac pros, Jim came to my rescue. What he discovered was that this immense, complicated program had one corrupt file. Because of this one corrupt file nothing I did or anyone else did was going to make a difference until it was removed.

The good news is that once that one corrupt file was gone, everything moved quickly forward with great grace and ease. Before I knew it, the edited recording was in my hands.

One little corrupt file stopped everything from moving forward, and cost me valuable time and money. One corrupt file held back my greater good. If I hadn't been persistent in finding it, it might have cost me much more.

As I thought about it, though, I saw the beauty and the wisdom of this experience. Our mind is like a computer. One tiny, little corrupt file can hold us back from our success.

And yet, is there maybe even more???

As Dr. Shad Helmstetter tells us in What To Say When You Talk To Your Self, "Leading behavior researchers have told us that as much as seventy-seven percent of everything we think is negative, counterproductive, and works against us… as much as seventy-five percent or more of our programming is the wrong kind."

Now, in case I hadn't gotten the message clearly enough, I had another lesson in living.

We changed our services on my website and had been trying to do something that should have been easy and effortless. It wasn't. Thanks to the patience and persistence of my web adminstrator, Deb Augur, we got to the bottom of the concern.

One thing that was supposed to have been turned on was turned off.

Once that thing was turned on, everything was running smoothly.

Does this remind you of anything you're experiencing in your life? Your conscious mind may have all the logic, reason, determination, and willpower to accomplish your goals, but if your subconscious mind has a belief that is not congruent with your conscious desires you will not achieve your goal!

So, ask yourself now, are there some corrupt files in your belief system, some switch that needs to be turned on to catapult you to your true wealth and unlimited success?

More importantly, are you ready to get rid of them so that you can move forward into the life you love to live?

Here's a simple tool that you can use to begin to clear out those old beliefs that no longer serve you and turn on the beliefs that will support you.

As you know, the time when your body is asleep is a great time to tap into the powers of your subconscious mind to create. As you prepare to go to bed, spend some time to focus on the good things that you've done or that have happened during the day. Spend a few moments in gratitude for all the delicious aspects of your life. Allow the words that describe your ideal life or a vision that pictures it to drift and float through your mind. This is preparation that will set you up for success.

As you sleep, your subconscious mind is actively working to create what you desire and focus on. Your early morning dreams, too, are an important time to allow your mind to release old beliefs that you've outgrown and want to let go of. These are called "venting" dreams.

To capitalize on this time, just before you go to sleep give yourself the following suggestion: "Tonight as I sleep, I will sleep quickly, calmly, soundly, and deeply. In my early morning dreams through thoughts and images, pictures and feelings, I am releasing and venting out any old ideas, thoughts, memories, programming, or beliefs that have held me back from success and prosperity. I am replacing them now with only loving, nurturing, powerful, positive, supporting, and empowering beliefs that allow me to move fully, completely and joyfully into my life of true wealth and unlimited success."

As a caution, you may find yourself waking up in the morning with memories of nightmares, disturbing thoughts, or a negative mindset. If this happens, GET REALLY EXCITED! That's a confirmation that the process is working for you and that you're on your way to being free. Simply take a piece of paper and write out whatever your mind is thinking in a stream of consciousness style. By doing this, you're giving these thoughts a place to stay so they're no longer taking up space in your head.

Make a commitment now to leave any corrupt files behind in 2004. Turn on the switches that will allow you to move joyfully, easily, effortlessly, and prosperously into the life of your dreams in 2005!

YOU deserve it!!!

With prosperity and blessings,

Debbie Friedman, C.Ht.

Have you set your intentions for 2005? Are you really clear, definite, and specific about what you choose to create in the New Year ahead?

We all know the power of intention, writing things down on paper, sharing your vision to spark the creation with group energy, and the power of focus. Now is the time to use these powers to work with you and for you in the coming months.

Here's a technique that works. First, write out your intentions for the new year by imagining yourself in December 2005 reflecting on the year that's gone by. Write down all the wonderful, prosperous, successful, joyful, loving things that have happened for you. Vision this fully and completely with all of your senses, and become really grateful for everything you know you are about to receive, as if it has already taken place.

Capitalize on the power of the group by sharing your intentions with others. It's often good to share your intentions that you've written down to see if anyone can suggest a way to make them more powerful and clear. This is not a time to be ambiguous - this is your time to choose with great confidence and joy!

Then, have each person share their intentions by speaking out loud or guiding the group through a vision. Remember to always speak or vision as if you have already received what you desire. It is also very powerful to acknowledge your gratitude by speaking the words "I am so very grateful that I have …." to begin setting your intentions.

You may choose to put your written intentions into an envelope marked "Open January 1, 2006". What fun it is to see how far you've come and to celebrate your successes!

You may also choose to become very clear, definite, and specific by setting your intentions for each month during the year, either by area of focus or mark of success.

Whatever you do, this is the time to do it. It's my practice, also, to review the year that's just passing so that I learn the lessons that I needed to and leave all the rest behind.

There will be five of us at my house on December 30th setting our intentions for the New Year. I also will be doing an annual review with my friend Diane to talk about the blessings of the events in 2004 and to help each other see the blessings in those things we haven't yet understood.

Give yourself this gift this year to consciously create the life you love to live! YOU deserve it!!!

"Within you right now is the power to do things you never dreamed possible. This power becomes available to you just as soon as you can change your beliefs."

- Maxwell Maltz
